What are some soft plastics you guys reccomend swimming or using like a jerkbait other than ones designed for that purpose? I'm sure some of that info is classified so I dont want to be asking too much hahha.  Just trying to break the mold a bit in my fishing and try new things. Ex: using a brush hog weightless and using it like a fluke, if that even works.

I do that too. Been putting a bug or creature bait on a weighted fluke type hook and work it along the bank or as close to the Lilly pad line that I can get. 

I find the plain ol’ senko makes a decent stand in for a soft jerk. I also twitch a weightless trick worm around shallow vegetation like a jerk bait.

Fat Ika can "walk-the-dog" subsurface caught fish a number of times this way.

Same. I also t rig it and pull it through the less dense stuff. Always gets a reaction.

The Senko was originally designed with the intent of being a soft plastic jerkbait.

True, it did kill the sluggo, but it seems like no one fishes it like that anymore.

do not swim senkos or trick worms through cover, they do not cause reaction bites when ripping through, they aren't super weedless, and they do not catch fish. 

 

I began using a weightless standard Brush Hog when I ran out of Flukes one day and caught fish on them. Since then I have continued to use it with success.

Craws and ribbon tail worms swim well with good results. If you can still get the Pit Boss (last I heard they stopped making them, this might not be true, or maybe they've changed their mind) it swims great and also works as a great soft plastic top water.

Speed Craw, Speed Worm, Rage Cut R Worm, & any Ribbon Tail Worm.

 

Y'all need to check out Magnum Trick Worms, Magnum Finesse Worms, Magnum Speed Worms & Magnum Speed Craws.

 I like slow rolling a 10" ribbontail, T-rigged, with a 1/16 or 1/8 weight through and over shallow grass. Any heavier weight gets the tail moving too fast. I want it moving just fast enough to get that long tail waving. 

I should also not mention the weightless tube, it does not catch fish

Darn I will keep it in mind to never swim those baits through cover
