Anyone use RM43 Weed killer? We need to stop the spread of weeds in a couple new areas we just built (patio, parking area). We put flagstone down and filled with river rock. We used Roundup early in the year but the weeds are getting bad. This RM43 stuff has good reviews, just wondering if anyone has experience or can recommend something better.

Ortho Weed-B-Gone has never failed me.

  Are you worried about it getting into the water supply, or are you just asking about effectiveness? And are you wanting to kill ALL vegetation, or everything except grass? (I thought that Weed-B-Gone didn't kill grasses. I might be wrong.)

   There's a new (at least new to me) product out called "Crossbow". I personally know nothing about it, but it's been recommended by other people as a highly effective product. You might want to check it out with someone who knows more about it.           jj

   Possibly. If you're on a well, you need to talk with someone professional, someone who really knows what they're talking about. These chemicals may not have the characteristics that we think they have.

   I would start at the state university level. Don't be satisfied to talk to the first person who answers the phone. Ask questions regarding people who are "experts". Like any human beings, they are fallible, just a little less so.

   If you don't get the info you need there, go the government route. Just be prepared to get the runaround time and time again.  ?

I use Spectracide Weed and Grass Killer

concentrate.
I mix 2oz in a 32oz spray bottle. The pre mixed stuff is too watered down. 

Anything it touches is dead within 2 days.

I’m assuming this is a fairly big area?

I rebuilt my deck and put down pretty much the same thing as a patio/landing in front of it. I didn’t want to deal with the weeds either. Prior to laying down the hardscape materials I put a tarp down. Not a weed to be had.

But, I’m assuming you wouldn’t want to do this now.

Those weeds will grow right on top of and through your tarp, it just takes them a while

I hate weed barriers with a passion.

 

op, go to a pro landscape supply shop and get glyphosate in a concentration of 41%. For longer term weed control look into Ronstar pre-emergent.

I get black tarp stuck around my lawn mower blade from where the previous homeowner tarped under a mulch bed. Didn’t stop weeds but it stops a push mower instantly

I can see if I had mulch but hardscape? 
Well so far so good. By October they start to die off

Thanks for all the replies. This is a large area so I will be putting a lot on the ground. I will definitely get in touch with someone about my well. Is this something someone from the DEQ could answer?

I have always had great success for killing everything with Ortho Ground Clear concentrate.  I have a sprayer that I only use for that and it lasts a good bit of time. It does kill everything though so be careful of overspray.

This RM43 is 43% Glyphosate, after some research, I think I am going to try it.

Imazapyr, Is persistent. So probably no need for another pre-emergent I.e Ronstar.

I used the Round Up Max Control 365 (the Home Depot guy told me it was the best) and it didn't last 4 months. However, we did have one of the wettest and coolest Summers I can remember, that might have had something to do with it.
