Rattling suspending jointed shad rap

I was in my boat yesterday kind of on a non fishing trip with the lady and friends paddling kayaks along side. (Air temp very hot water temp a refreshing 63). I was running the trolling motor to keep up with them and figured why not troll down stream with the electric. It was like 15 feet deep so I grab the suspending Shad rap  thinking it would stay down better. Well by golly it got to the bottom and bumped it the entire time almost regardless of how fast I was trolling it. Got a drum, a nice sauger, and a decent smallmouth nearly instantly. For whatever reason this was the first time I’ve ever trolled one of these lures  and I am quite thrilled about the possibilities for the future

We may have to swap names lol it’s bad that I’ve only been out twice in the last month and there you are wallering (wallow for you non hill folk) in multi species and probably followed around by flocks of long legged and long necked shore birds ?

Those baits are smallmouth catchers.

I really like the Glass Rap for trolling. I've got a #5 purple glass rap that's more scratches than paint somewhere.

Awesome trolling baits.  Berkley Flicker Shads are a good cheaper option, too, although I hate the stock hooks on them.  They have a ton of cool pattern choices, too.

I use the Flicker Shad Shallow a lot for winter time bass fishing. It cast a lot better than the deeper diver version and floats very slowly with upgraded hooks.
