ARK rods.....

Featured Replies

I am currently looking at ARK casting rods for weighted texas rigs (1/4oz-3/8oz and maybe a tiny bit smaller) and possibly 3/8oz jigs.  I'm specifically looking at a MH XF rod.  Anyone have experience with these rods?  Are they sensitive enough for bottom contact?

I used to buy a lot from them (I knew the owners).  Since they sold the place and new owners took over I haven’t been back.  I hope that they are as good as they were before.

I've recently purchased two of the Tharp series. Guntersville Special, and One Eyed Jack. I'm happy with both so far and will probably buy more. Love the handles and reel seats, Fuji K guides, 40T japanese blanks. I'd say they're as good as anything else at there price point, and probably better than most.

I have a 7' MH Sniper rod. To be honest, not my favorite rod, but no complaints on the sensitivity department either. The thing that I don't like the most, is the ACS style reel seat.

I bought a Tharp Hammer when Tacklewarehouse had them on sale and like it. Its sensitive but dont think you are going to use leaders with it, those eyes are very small even with the FG knot passing through. Sensitivity wise I'd say its close to my Dobyns Sierra. I like to try a variety of rods but I'd buy another if they went on sale again.

Caught a 9.5lb channel cat on a 1/2oz spinner in 30ft of water and it handled it like a champ for reference.

I have 2 Snipers (7'0 MH and 7'6 H) and a new Invoker Pro composite.  The x-fast taper on the Sniper MH makes it fish much stiffer than I'd like.  Works fine for light jigs up to 1/2oz.  I wasn't a fan of how it handled light t-rigs.  Overall, they're decent rods but nothing too special.  I didn't pay full retail for any of mine and don't think I would.
