That little Boston Whaler sure can handle that inlet that’s for sure! They sure have developed quite the following. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 8, 2021 Super User Posted September 8, 2021 My best friend and I would fish for blues off Nantucket in a little 13' Whaler with wooden bench seats. Just like Lake Ontario, you don't pick your days to go out, the weather does. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted September 11, 2021 Super User Posted September 11, 2021 I remember one trip that I fished with a couple friends in 3-6 foot seas in a small Carolina Skiff. The boat owner was a master at riding the waves and had an amazing bilge pump which pumped the water quickly after the boat would take a wave. It was a bumpy ride but it was worth it since we caught lots of nice fish. Quote

Those little hot rod Whalers can handle pretty much whatever you dare to put them through. He overdid it one time and pulled into Barnstable Harbor holding the wheel and wood helm section in his hands after a very rough ride in. 2 Quote
Holetail Posted September 21, 2021 Posted September 21, 2021 Back in my 20’s I did quite a bit of commercial fishing off shore. Captain and I decided it would be a good idea to spent the night on the break (67miles out) on his 26’ center console. It was summer and winds were forecasted as light. About 2 AM it started blowing 15-20 with 6 foot seas. All we could do was take turns at the helm motoring over the waves while the other tried to sleep. Miserable night but we caught the hell out of the grouper the next day. Oh to be young and dumb again. Quote
