Need help with a skirt

Featured Replies

I'm partially color blind and need help in determining what skirt pads I would need to build a skirt color called Little Gator by Oldham Jigs.

Strike King makes one called Gator Craw which would work also.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'll play ~

Sort of hard to tell until you have the skirt material in hand but

If I were trying to make that deal up I'd try

2 skeins of Whiskey Green in this one

And one skein of Pumpkin/Green Scale  in this one

Good Luck

Have you tried contacting Oldham, explain your situation,  they may sale skirts. I know skirts aren't listed on the site but it will be worth a shot. Terry Oldham is pretty understanding, if he doesn't sale skirts he may give you the colors needed.

In addition to what A-Jay recommends, there is a little metallic green in there, probably kristal flash (fly tying flash material) , lime green or green?

It looks to be pumpkin and whiskey barbed wire with green Krystal flash.

I'm  Color blind too, bass are colorblind too (only seeing red green blue and chartruse) is it only me but when I'm fishing certain colors the guy in the boat with me thinks I'm crazy. One time I was fishing a light baby blue with silver sparkle and mistook it as junebug. Worked even better than junebug, perhaps because nobody has thrown that shade color. Sometimes imo us that are colorblind may have more insight to how bass see, perhaps on darkness shades rather than actual color.

Likely true.  I'm envious of my colorblind brother in law who only needs 3 or 4 colors in his tackle bag.

Natural pumkin baitfish 187

Pumkin green flake  baitfish 089

Those are my guess without having the bait in hand. I would go with Catt's suggestion and contact the company.

Thanks guys for all your suggestions. I need to order some more jigs from Oldham's Jigs and will see if I can get 6 of the Little Gator Skirts. I had forgotten that I was able to get a few extra skirts from Terry Oldham in the past.

I'm also going to order some of the skirt pads suggested and try to build the skirt myself.

I really appreciate all the feedback.
