I never have. I wonder how the paint would react to the plastic?

It'd have to be a paint that would remain very flexible when dry...otherwise the action would be totally lost and you end up with a 'hard bait'.

You know, you’re right and I never even thought about it. I was thinking along the lines of the paint melting the plastic on contact or just adherence to it.

Good point MN

What I would do instead of paint

Get several colors of a plastic worm dye and try mixing them to create new colors.

JJ's Magic and Spike It are limited in their color selection

Quick Coat has more colors - https://www.lurepartsonline.com/Quick-Coat-Worm-Dye-4oz

So does Jann's Component System - https://www.jannsnetcraft.com/soft-plastic-baits/380551.aspx

Looks like worm dye and Q-Tips are the way to go ...

I’ve read about it on a well known tackle building site that is owned by Lure Parts Online that I can not post on here.

You can go to their site to the bottom of the page forth column to the right second line down.
