New Garmin LVS34 Livescope Plus - New and Improved Live Scope Forward Facing Sonar

Featured Replies

The BassTank put out a video of them actually using it, and based off of that, I think the new transducer is more of a "nice to have". When I have my LVS32 transducer dialed in, it doesn't look much different than what is shown in that video. And about the blind spot, I can't say that it has ever really been an issue for me... at least not a "need to throw $1200 into it" type of issue...

Ok so I caught my first livescope fish last weekend. It was pretty dang cool.  Didn't have enough skill to dial in to see my lure, but anyway I got the gist of it.

1) I don't understand the garmin head unit models at all, so I can't really tell what changes across the different models, and whether those models are worth the upgrade? I won't be able to run any other electronics, so mapping matters to me, if that has an impact.

2) how much battery will I really need to run one all day with an 8" head unit? 10" just won't fit.  My helix is only supposed to draw .8 amp so a 10ah battery should run it all day, but that's really not how it works out, and drawing an AGM down that low kills it off pretty fast. But it is impractical for me to just overkill it and throw a giant group 28 at it. Any advice here?

3) I considered the h-bird version, but I'm not hearing anything anywhere that it is as good and certainly not better, but let me know if I'm confused.

4) what else do I need to know?

Well I currently have a Humminbird mega live and have not been satisfied. The announcement of the new Livescope plus has me about ready to jump ship

Or so you think. ?

I like Humminbird too and I’d like to eventually get 360 imaging. I’ve been pretty happy with my Echomap units and you get a lot of bang for your buck and very user friendly we’re the selling points for me.

The million dollar question is WHEN WILL GARMIN PUSH OUT A 360 version? THAT would be pretty nice :) Humminbird mega360 will be somewhat tough to beat, they've done a good job on that.

I wish they would but I doubt they will.

Lowrance is coming out with 360.  Garmin will have to eventually or something similar but better.

They’ve got you right where they want you………

LOL I think every manufacture wants me tied to them...

Then you got the pro guys, who run 3 units on the front of their boat... One humminbird, one lowrance, and one garmin...  Just makes our lives more difficult and not all the money is going into one manufactures pocket haha

I think the bigger issues is patents. Garmin can't just 'steal' humminbirds 360 technology so they have to figure out a way around the patent, etc. I doubt they are going to pay Humminbird to license it..

Has the recent Software update changed your mind? I am looking to get live sonar, and I am torn between mega live or livescope plus, I like the thought of sticking with HB.

Yes the update is AWESOME! I rescind my comment about wanting to go Garmin.

Great, I literally bite the bullet and ordered it 30 minutes ago, it’s going to be delivered Saturday
