Zodias 7”2 Medium Mod Fast For Reaction Fishing

Featured Replies

Ive been going hard with reaction fishing and this is the first season where I can utilize these techniques since I haven’t really gone at it this time of year until now ,I realized I don’t have a proper setup for jerkbaits, lipless, and squarebills (dont think I should throw spinner and chatterbaits on a moderate action rod but if they will be good tell me) Im looking at the zodias 7”2 medium power mod fast to cover these techniques,is that a good pick? This is new to me so Im still learning what to throw on what but this is where Ive gone with my research.

One rod that might work for lipless, square bills, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits - would be the graphite Powell Endurance 725 Crankbait rod. Action is pretty good for all the above except jerk bait might be a tad long/soft, but then again so would the Zodias.

Yeah.  Should be great with those baits.

Would the Medium heavy work better with the lipless/squarebill and spinnerbaits and chatter baits but less for jerkbaits? Im thinking of using a diffrent rod for jerkbaits entirely so if those options will be better for the other four and not for jerkbaits thats probaly what Im going to go with.

I like fast or XF for all those baits.

For a spinning option, look at the Powell endurance 723. It’s medium, moderate fast. It works great for all treble based lures.

A shorter rod might be better for jerkbaits.

iRod Stone Cold Swim and Vibrating Jig Rod covers you for lipless, spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits, but I would not prefer it for jerkbaits or squarebills. Hard to find a rod that excels with all of these techniques, I think.

Swim and Vibrating Jig Rod is my favorite rod I have. It's a beast. 7'2" medium heavy moderate fast.

I think you will get different answers from different people on what rod to use for these techniques. Moderate fast is my preference for single hook moving baits and for lipless as of right now.

This looks like same specifications as the rod i mentioned. Is that thing on sale right now? See it on their website. That could be a steal OP

I've had both the iRod Stone Cold and Endurance 725 - excellent rods. What I don't like is Powell's web site where the rod is listed at $300 and on sale for $150. I've seen it on other retailer's sites and never seen it above $150. If that's pretty much the price, then I'm not sure why they think they need to inflate the original price to get you to buy it "on sale." That aside, its a heckuva rod.
