My grandson and his friend found a good size bucket of morels yesterday after school.                                               They're going again today. All the morels they found were under cottonwood trees. They've also found some under elm trees that have shed the bark.                                                      I've seen morels listed in a local paper for 50 dollars a pound bag.  Depending on moisture in the soil, and how much rain we've gotten, some years can be very good for mushroom hunters.                      We usually slice them in half, and soak them in a bowl of water that been heavily salted. Then rinse them off, batter and fry. They taste delicious with some crappie or bluegill fillets.                   Is anyone else going mushroom hunting this spring?

I've been out 3 times, about 2 hours each trip. I have yet to find one. These are places where I have found them before so I have no clue what is going on. It might be too late here is all I can guess.

My cousin had a nose for them. Me on the other hand, I’ve found probably 20 in my life. I’m not a fan of eating fungi anyway, so there’s that. 

I'd love to find some to sell, but I'm not at all interested in dealing with the ticks to find them.

I'll have to echo that.

While I enjoy finding them and eating them, not crazy about dealing with the ticks and chiggers that seem to want to Hitch a ride while I'm searching.
