Curious if you would share your plan of attack for brush piles

Unpegged Rage Bug behind 1/16 oz weight.   I have never been too confident crashing brush with heavy t-rigs and jigs, though I know many who do it well.  I prefer to get them by working bait up to each branch and slowly work it up and over.  I just feel I have much better control and feel with light weights.  After working a pile thoroughly from a ways back, I'll go back over and if I'm marking good fish (and it isn't windy), I will sit on top and use a dropshot, starting outside and work my way to the middle.

Top, sides, then meat.  Top and sides can be almost anything depending on depth, meat will depend on how heavy the brush is but usually a jig or pegged worm.

Before pitching a worm { no brush hogs , lizards , craws , or anything else with little fish attracting appendages ] into it , I like to throw either a spinnerbait or buzzbait through it because they navigate through brush real well .  Pretty simple . I fish brush piles a lot .

Straight into the heart of it with my pitchin rig. 7'6" - 7'11" HF rod, 40# 832, tungsten weight (usually 3/8), 4/0 flippin hook, and a beaver style bait.

You can't go wrong with a crankbait. I'm not big on jigs in brush piles. I would much rather throw some kind of T-rig.

Most effective for me are flippin jigs and T rig lizard or creature baits. Most fun is a big ol 1.5 oz spinner bait on them offshore brush piles. I too love fishing brush piles.
