I’m thinking maybe you could start with a t-rig, making long casts, and then as you fish longer, you could work the area around your kayak with short pitches with a jig as maybe the fish will have become more comfortable with your boat presence by then. What do you think?

Yeah that's generally what I do. It's really a matter of finding where fish are for me too, I can cover a larger area with a T-Rig, so I tend to start there in grass unless I know the area is hot or typically produces.

  • A jig & trailer is 1 piece attached together with fixed weight to hook size. A T-rig is 2 separate pieces using a sliding bullet weight with adjustable weights and hook sizes. More options.

  • Most anglers try forcing a jig through grass which is all wrong, you gotta finesse the jig through grass!   When you feel the jig starting to load up in the grass...stop. Release pressure, p

  • Depends on the weight used for the Texas Rig.    I generally throw Craw Worms during pre-spawn/spawn & the Dog Days of Summer.

In the River Smallie fishing  i T rig or Rage Rig them more. I get hung alot less that way. If i have a jig tied on i usually swim it. Rage craw or Z craw are the ticket

I very rarely t-rig a craw.

But....In addition to a jig (or jigs), I do usually have a T-rigged Rage Bug tied on also.

It ain't exactly a craw....but it ain't exactly not one, either.

So, put me down for both.

I guess I went from, 'only one', to 'both' pretty quickly....lol

I’m not the one trying to make myself look superior by saying everyone else doesn’t know how to fish grass and then leaving long drawn out posts explaining how to do it.

If you would spend some time reading bassresource you would realize the subject of "If ya can't fish a jig through grass y'all don't know how to fish a jig!" has come up on many occasion.

My answer about how to *finesse" a jig through grass was in direct response to Deephaven.

You got all excited when I suggested throwing both but failed to say anything about anyone suggesting it.

You're awfully full of yourself!

Have a nice day ?
