Metanium DC vs Steez SV TW

Featured Replies

I have a met dc and it’s good but definitely not worth what it cost, although I am satisfied that I got to experience it for myself and make a opinion based on my use. I only have a steez a and I like it better than the dc reel. In this price range I would definitely look into the jdm market and get a met b I love my steez, but the met b is something special. Plus as a bonus with the exchange rate being so good currently you can get one less than $300 and that’s a definite steal for what that reel does. The met b takes a very strong thumb from my experience but I run my reels extremely loose and that is some of my issues with the met b reels, but even with that I still love them.

MetB would be my choice but if you want the DC go for it. I wouldn't waste the money on a steez sv unless your fishing mainly light lures and even then I'd go with Met instead.

Steez would be my vote between the 2.  Have owned both now only have the Steez feel I can cast further with it.  Have you looked at the 2021 Zillion?  I think it compares more to the Met and is cheaper I have a couple of those and really like them.

I’m thinking of using the steez would be better suited for lighter applications and the Met DC for heavier stuff like jigs, and heavier baits.  i know the DC is a little bigger profile and have to imagine heavier so may balance out heavier power rods better.  Would that make sense?

maybe a met Dc on like an 894 or 873

have the steez better suited for a 893 or 852.

I prefer the Steez over the Metanium.  I also prefer the new Zillion over the Metanium and you can get a JDM Zillion for $250.

I have the regular Metanium, the Steez SV and the Steez CT. All great reels. I guess it depends on what you want to use it for..... I prefer to use them this way.

Metanium > Jigs and spinnerbaits

Steez SV > T-rigged soft plastic

Steez CT > Lighter weight soft plastic (shakey head), Easy Shiners, and finesse jigs

i have both and like them equally.  i  just don’t really know where it would use one over the other and why.

i understand  preference and price point influence peoples decisions but they are both really nice reels.  i was just curious why you prefer one over the other and where one might shine vs the other.

i have several NRX+ rods i’m trying to pair them with and want to understand where one would shine over the other.

Steez has a better lower profile and weight. i like the small compact design.  brakes are awesome, great distance.  to me that makes it better for the lighter powered rods

Met Dc is a little bigger heavier awesome brakes and distance, so in my mind that might make it better for heavier powered rods

Its  really about which would pair better with certain rods from a balance and use perspective

any further help or experiences or thoughts would be appreciated

I have my Metanium on a NRX+ 844C, the Steez SV on a St. Croix Legend Elite 6'8'' Med Fast, and the Steez CT on a NRX+ 802C. The Steez SV would pair nicely with any 3 power NRX.

That’s kind of what i was thinking anything 3-4 power goes toward metanium but steez would work,  anything 3 power and under would goes toward steez but metanium would work as well.

i just need some delineation between the two and the only think i can come up with is heavier powered rods and weights of applications lean more toward metanium.

Does that make sense?
