Once my heavy body was out, it started rocking. I pushed up on side handle and it popped right off.

No, didn't bandon it. I put a bungie cord with a carabiner on the front kayak handle and held it in my hand. When I woke up after passing out, luckily I still had a hold of the other end of the bungie. I was able to get back in once I was closer to shore. I was also lucky not to loose anything.

You kept your wits!   Great job.

Very lucky you are still with us.

Fell out of a bass boat operating the TM in a friends boat. The TM turns sideways when the foot peddle is not in use and accidentally hit the full on switch with my back of my shoe, the boat went out from underneath me and in the 50 degree water I went. Luckily I had a partner to get me back in the boat.

I was hypothermic quickly and need to get wet cloths covered with a rain suit. Very scary event and don’t know how you made it alone.

Glad you put your PFD on first. Sounds like it saved your life. In my kayak, I don't even take mine off, to sketched out over careless boaters. Always wear mine in the big boat too when on the big motor. Most of the time I don't even take it off running the little motor unless anchored, beached, docking, etc.

All of the iphone 14 models are supposed to have an emergency SOS GPS feature become functional this month.

They also have a crash detection feature that can alert emergency services and contacts of your choosing.

First off thank God you're ok. Second that is a very scary incident. I'm an EXTREMELY strong swimmer but I'm an absolute stickler for a PFD because if I'm passed out my swimming ability goes out the window.

You're extremely fortunate your PFD type had you floating face up.

I've always tried to follow the 120 deg rule of water temp plus air temp needs to equal 120. However, I have never had an aversion to temps hot or cold to one extreme or the other UNTIL I had a heart attack in 2017. They put me on blood thinners for about 4-5 months back in 2017 and I haven't warmed up since.

I love to swim but it can be 105 deg outside in the summer and I can't hardly get into the pool. I can mow and weedeat and be so hot I can't see straight and will still dance around the pool for an hour dipping a toe in. After getting in it will still take me a good half hour to get acclimated.

I bet my wife and I haven't slept in the same bed 5 times in the last 5 years since my heart attack. I use an electric blanket and weighted blanket year 'round and just about smoke her out of the bed. And my heart attack was Dr induced because of HIS mistake, I'm healthy as a horse but have to live my life with the after affects.
