Super User Spankey Posted November 9, 2022 Super User Posted November 9, 2022 Monday was it for me for the season. One of the most beautiful fall days in awhile, got to 76 deg. Very slow bite. Really only fished one section of the river. Various type rock bank, water dropping off to 9 feet than 12-13 feet quickly. Didn’t expect to set the world on fire but somewhat had expectations that fishing bugs, grubs and craws slow through those rocks would have produced. Managed an 11” and 14” Smallie cranking down to the drop offs on a 7A, Bomber is usually productive for me there. Nice and healthy. I realize they are no prize but my season has not had many prizes. I believe I had a hookup with a Musky. On a very short time, probably on a single hook of the trebles. Not far off the bank. Nice surface swirl created but I couldn’t tell exactly what it was. Did not show itself well. Catfish? Maybe. Don’t have myself convinced it was a large Smallie. Best part of that was I didn’t have a Musky walk off with one of my favorite Glass Shad Raps. I’ll consider it a positive way to end the season. Give it a bit and reflect back on the season and think about what I’d have done differently. Don’t have any big tackle or equipment plans over the winter. Search for more spares of productive hardbaits. A lot are obsoleted. A lot of current patterns are unavailable. Have a handful of months now to pull it together. 8 1 1 Quote
Motoboss Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 My season pretty much ended yesterday too. Falling temps throughout the day which turned to snow overnight. Still a light snow falling and a much colder trend on the way. Not a great amount of fishing this year with even less success but in full anticipation of next Spring, when my new Kayak arrives. Probably spend the winter getting beat over the head by the bait monkey, because resistance is futile! Hoping for a few days of warm up to hit the river again. 2 Quote

The new kayak will put your mine in a good spot next season. Good luck, good fishing. 1 Quote
Susky River Rat Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 I have never done well on a warming trend in the fall. None the less it’s great to be in a t shirt in fall on the water. Glad both of you had a good safe season. Moto boss enjoy your new kayak! Tinkering with set ups are half the fun of a new rig 1 Quote
