St Croix Legend tournament flip/chat/crank

Featured Replies

Just curious what techniques you are using this rod for.   I primarily bought it for 1/2 oz.bladed jigs and some light flipping. It's a heavy power mod fast action.  I'm in PA so I have not had a chance to use it yet.  I thought the tip would have a little more bend to it.  It almost seems more of a fast action than a mod fast.  I know St Croix tends to be on the stiffer side.  Thanks in advance.

I'm using mine for heavier treble hook lures, especially 1/2 and 3/4 oz lipless.

How is the bend on the rod with the treble hooks.  It just seems stiffer to me then what I would think for a mod fast. But again I have not used it yet.

The rod is best for heavier lures. For lighter treble hooks my rod of choice is the

G.Loomis GLX PR844C. For giant lures the Lamiglas SR705R is THE BOMB!

It’s perfect for the Chatterbait and crank, maybe a little flemsy for the flipping. It’s got some bend being glass

It's a heavy powered rod so it's not going to have a super flimsy tip, but it should bend a little deeper into the blank than a regular fast action though. That will aid a bit fishing around grass with the chaterbait and lipless crankbaits where mod fast action doesn't load as deep and will help to rip the bait free from the grass.

The rod Triton is asking about is a graphite rod. It's the 7'3" H/MF Flip-Chat-Crank rod. The 7'2" H/M Rip-Chatter is the rod with the blend of glass and graphite.

No worries, they're dang close, I had to go check the website to make sure I was remembering correctly.
