Rattles in Plastics

Hey y’all,

When do you like to use them and what rattles do you prefer?

Have used them in the past in plastics and also on jigs.

Started that deal fishing at night.

Prefer glass as it seems a bit more 'clicky'.

Don't use them as much now except for one singular application.

Tubes.

Rattle gets inserted into the tube and is held in place by half a foam ear plug

(split length wise) and soaked in Megastrike.

Not magic but it doesn't reduce bites either.

I use rattles, and feel it gives me an edvantage in the stained waters I fish.  I use small, medium, and tube rattles (glass).

Same here ?

Don't remember the manufacturer but I think they were called "Bubble Claw". They were about 5-6" with a bubble pocket in the claw. You would insert a round rattle in the pocket. The negative was you lost a lot of rattles. Ran out of rattles one night & continued catching with out em.

One of my favorite jigs & one I still use in certain conditions is Lunker Lures Triple Rattleback Jig. And of course Strike King's Denny Brauer Pro Model Jig.

There are many things that complicate fishing that I can't buy into... this is one of them.

I always use a rattle in a flipping tube. I like either the McCoy Tube Rattle or the Gene Larew Glass Rattle.

I'll also use a rattle in plastic baits on occasion when fishing at night.

Ive found on one local lake rattles can do more harm then good the majority of the year.  When I do use them I like the 3mm Waspi for Air Tail Rattlers and 5mm GL for Biffle Bugs

I tie some crayfish flies with rattles and some without.  It seems that the rattles help.  I also use glass as it gives that click that you hear if you ever have observed crayfish underwater.
