i just bought two packs yesterday.  right after i had a bran muffin a big cup of coffee, actually.

 

i got the 3.5's, and i think a 3/0 Owner Haymaker may fit fine.  i am going to probe underwater river channels with them.  

Ooh that Ryugi 5/0 hook looks like a nice fit. In my TW cart for sure!

Good luck finding Haymakers in anything larger than 2/0. I haven’t been able to for over a year now. If someone out there has a source, lemme know!

  yup.  i am acutely aware that i have six 3/0 Haymakers left.    i ordered 3/0 Ryugi infini hooks as a replacement but they are phycically smaller.  

 

i think i have a gang of 4/0 and 5/0 Gammy i will shoehorn to fit.

Benzye by Dranckrazy (jdm) is amazing in deep water and heavy current (St Lawrence).  

There are some things that make me question why I have a huge array of plastics and lures. The fake plastic doodie is one of them. Next you'll tell me Spencer's Gifts is the next Tackle Warehouse, and I will be powerless to argue the point 

Hayabusa swimbait/CPS hooks fit the thinner ones of these (and a fat IKA) perfectly. Upgrade the hitchiker that it comes with - use an owner CPS large.

I continue to fish these..a lot. These are always in my sling. Deps has since come out with a 3" too, which is the "Goldilocks" size for me.

 

It flat it works and is fun to fish. Casts a mile and skipping is ridiculously easy. With a deft hand you can "walk the dog" with these on the surface or under the water.

 

 Currently really like Blue Melon, Golden and Pumpkin Cheesecake colors.

 

 Still haven't settled on a favorite hook. I like the way the Gama G-Lock hook tip angles into the top of the bait because the hook keeper nub in the bait gets blown out. But then the front can blow out. So I like Owner CPS hooks for the front. Haven't found a hook that addresses both issues yet. Wish there was a Goldilocks hook for me! 

 

 Anyone else fish these often?

I'm not fishing these, but I've been fishing the Fish Arrow Heavy Poop 3.6" which are quite similar. The Owner Twistlock 5/0 5132-151 with the stock medium(M) keeper swapped out to an Owner CPS large(L) works well but rusts easily. I switched to the 5/0 Berkeley Fusion 19 Swimbait hook with the stock spring keeper also swapped to the Owner CPS (L) and its finish resists rust much better. However, I need to bend the hook's point down a skosh towards the hook's eye to skin hook the plastic. No big deal with standard pliers with the jaws insulated with some electrical tape. Needed to do a slight overbend also with the Gamakatsu 5/0 3/16oz 296415-3/16. It's also very rust resistant.

Yes, I've fished a variety of other "poop" baits. I try to stay on the lighter side as I'm using L or UL gear. I've used Spin Nuts, Yamatanuki, Imo Kamushi to name a few. All great fun! 

 

Thanks for the detail on the hooks. I've done similar, making "Frankenhooks" for this application. I THINK thus far I like the G-Lock the best. I fish in weeds so making sure the hook tip stays buried is important to me. And that unique bend really helps IMO. I'm experimenting with bait keeper discs at the front.
