Lews Rods and Reels help

Featured Replies

Have an opportunity to get some new Lews rod and reels 50% off, i put the ones im interested in buying down below, ive checked these forums for information on these and found some posts that were helpful but not enough to make me feel confident in purchasing these, so if anyone that has these rod/reels can give some advice or input on the pros/cons and problems/issues, i would appreciate it. I have some budget Lews products so only have a small amount of experience with them. Most of the reviews on these products have mainly good reviews but there are a few bad reviews so please any advice or comments would be great. Thanks.

I use quite a bit of Lew’s products. Out of the ones you listed, the only one I have experience with is the Speed Spool LFS. For $50, that’s a steal. Even at the MSRP, it’s a great value. Doesn’t feel like a cheap reel at all. I’ve never been anything but happy with Lew’s. I plan on getting the Custom Lite sometime this year. From what I’ve heard and read, this real is a must-have.

I don't have a lot of Lews, but they do make pretty good products, so you really can't go wrong with any of them at 50% off.

I don't know enough to say much about the KVD Cranking Series, but I did recently pick up one of the 7' GC3 "All Purpose Reaction" rods ( or something like that) and I kind of like it. It's light, has a short handle grip and is rated for 3/16 - 1/2 oz. Trying it out for a variety or light things like poppers, small jerkbaits, and even #3 - #5 Mepps spinners

I had a Pro SP and a couple LFS and either sold them or gave them to family. Good reels and they like them. They just weren't my thing. Didn't care for centrifugal brakes on a pitch & skip reel. Never had a BB1 or SuperDuty but they seem well liked on here.

Bottom line,... Lews makes good quality reels and their customer service is awesome in my experience. Hold them in your hand and see what you think. If you like them, you can't go wrong at those prices!

I like Lew's, and have had great luck with an LFS casting reel going on it's third year now. Good gear for the price.

I've been using a 2nd generation BB1 Pro for the past 5-6 yrs.  Excellent reel!

At a hundy each, I'd buy two if I was you.

All would be great, and the Speed Spool LFS is the best $100 reel on the market imo. For $50 they are a really good value
