Wish you guys wouldn't have said anything. Now I feel like I got ripped off. ?

Did you see the free bags in your confirmation email or???

Yeah they showed up in the cart for me too. It was actually kind of confusing, I was just trying to get free shipping and I would add a bag and my total wouldn't change but I couldn't find anything about it on the website. The screen shot I posted was from the confirmation email but I haven't gotten a shipping notification yet.

I am excited to try these out too. I've had really good luck with Fat IKA's and some of the other bulky, backslide type baits.

I’ve found good success with the Owner Beast twist lock - 4/0    a regular EWG works but it tears em up pretty quick - with the twist you can get 5-6 fish on a single Yama-Dookie

  • These are big, heavy hunks of plastic. A Fat Ika and 5” Senko for comparison. The big hook slot runs on both sides of the bait. These will cast a mile and they look awesome. I have high hopes for this

  • Yamatanuki played cleanup yesterday. I see little bass playing/nipping the tail, but all the 1+ pounders grab and don't let go. Use the Ryugi Infini 4/0 for Yamatanuki, which is what I use for Cover S

Order arrived today minus the 4 Yamatanuki, 1 each in a different color. When order was placed there was no info given that these were backordered. I'm now on hold to find out when these will be shipped. No email or communication since order was placed that these were not in stock to be shipped immediately, that they are on backorder, or estimated shipping date. When I check my order status online it just says my order is complete.... and it is not complete. Frustrated to say the least....

Update: After speaking with Denise, the customer rep by phone, she stated they are backordered 2-4 weeks, possibly 30-60 days and the only communication that I will receive going forward is an email once they are shipped.

Last time I will order from baits.com

Hope the rest of you that placed an order have better success getting your items.

Boo.

I placed an order on March 27 but haven't heard anything yet. Did you get an email when they shipped?

I think I ordered a day after you so I'm expecting the same. I'll likely ask for a refund. If you don't have stuff in stock, update your site. Inexcusable.

The only email I received was one that stated "awaiting shipment" the day after I placed my order. On that email was a 5 digit order #. You have to then go to the baits.com site, scroll to the bottom of the page, click on "order status". Type in your email and order # and it will give you a shipment update thru FedEx. That original email is the only communication that I received from them after placing the order.

The only reason I ordered from them is because I thought I was going directly thru the manufacturer who should certainly have them instock. Live and learn....

Ah, thanks. I got this message.

We have your order! We are working to get your order picked, packed and shipped from our warehouse. Check back soon for more details

Man that’s some bs! I Probably could have ordered from TW and had them by now. What a joke. I was still holding out hope of having them soon for some upcoming tournaments.

tw only had two colors in stock and the rest are back ordered. Seems common with them and anything new

Probably the only reason I got an order # is because I ordered some craws and not just the Yamatanuki baits. The craws were available to ship so that part of my order moved forward.

It should be clearer on the website if there is a back order situation.  It was not uncommon even before the buyout, that baits would be on back order from the factory.  They work to fill commercial retailers first before filling individual orders.  It’s a matter of economics.  The commercial buyers place huge orders.

Understand and totally agree economically for them. As you stated, make it clear on the website about the availability/backorder situation and in todays world of instant info, use a canned email response to keep the customer informed on order status. Not to beat a dead horse, just stating these two issues because I know you will give them feedback. Thanks!

The day they became available on TW, which is the day I ordered direct from baits.com, I saw that at least the baby bass color were in stock on there for a while.

Yeah I never would have ordered direct if I knew they weren't actually in stock, free baits or not. Pretty aggravating. Plenty of places did have them last friday. The Hook Up still has a few colors left, including baby bass

Here’s an update for those interested:

The Yamatanuki has far outsold our expectations. While we're extremely thankful for all of the orders, we apologize for the delay in being able to ship them. We admittedly underestimated the demand there would be for this lure initially.

Right now, we're continuing to run overtime at the Yamamoto factory in Arizona, and we're going as fast as possible while not compromising the quality you expect from the Yamamoto brand.

We'll continue to provide updates on availability via our website, social media, and e-mail newsletters. We ask for your patience as we fulfill all the orders that have come in. Should you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to our Customer Service team- 877-269-8490 and/or email at customerservice@gsmorg.com  They would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.

TBH this shows a lack of committment to having an ecommerce channel. I try not to be harsh, but we live in an omni-channel world, and the message here is "we really don't want to sell direct, none of our processes are setup for DTC and it isn't a priority." Stock levels are basics, and letting customers place orders for things that are both last on the list and not really there...

Looks just like the Neko Macho that came out several years ago. I think I have

all 14 colors.

I saw those last night when I was looking for the Yamatanuki.   What do you think of the Neko Macho?    Does it seem roughly the same size?
Thanks!

Doesn’t look the same to me at all. It’s longer, more worm like, and probably less weight. I want the tanuki for pitching into cover. I don’t think I would use the neko macho for that.

That is what I thought too.  I liked the fact that the Tanuki is 5/8 oz and it looked like great action.   Easy to fish weightless.  Hook slots should make it weedless too.

I don’t disagree but remember the company just changed hands and this is their first foray into fishing products.  They are more than likely new to forecasting sales of new releases where quantity is a factor.  The new owners GSM Outdoors was totally a hunting products company before and most of their brands don’t work off the volume a pack of baits and probably thousands upon thousands of orders produced. Personally, I can see this happening with this release over all of the other new baits which didn’t have the same problem but that’s my 40+ years in fishing speaking.

Thats fair. I hope they noticed they managed to aggro a bunch of people that thought they were getting an order, and can at least fix showing they have the items when they don't really - my comment about stocking levels wasn't clear in hindsight... it was more about loading the stock into the website vs forecasting. Although I agree with you, this was one that the success of the jdm poop competitors (Deps, fish arrow) in the US already was a good clue for a bigger run.

In general it feels like product design got a good kick with the acquisition. The slink-o is a winner, and I'm going to guess the craws do really well too.

Nice. Mine is scheduled to be delivered on Monday. Since it's coming via FedEx, I'm hoping to have it by fall.

Once I knew they were oos I was expecting to wait a month or more so I was happy they came fairly quickly. They never sent me a tracking number or anything, I just happened to check
