What else would you use this setup for?

Featured Replies

I’m not a big topwater guy but occasionally I’ll throw them. And my son loves It. So I put together this semi-inexpensive combo for spooks, buzzbaits, and horny toads. Had braid on It and haven’t touched It in a year or so.
Well got sick of Braid on another combo (chunked a $20 bait into oblivion when It caught in the spool and broke) so I also stripped the braid off this combo. Replaced It with 17lb armilo and after playing with It in the bedroom a little, I  really like the balance of the setup.

So what else would you use It for?

Daiwa Tatula 150HS 7.3, Dobyns Maverick 734c 7’3” 1/4-1oz HF, 17lb Sunline Defier Armilo

I throw alot of moving baits on Fast action rods with Mono. I love my Tatula 150's and find the 7:1 gear ratio with 100mm handle is the perfect balance of speed and torque. My main lures for that would be shallow, mid, and lipless cranks, as well as 4 - 5" Paddle tails.

Is the Mav 734 is anything like the Sierra 734, there's a ton of stuff you can do with that. Like @A kid from Canada said, moving baits especially.

Spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, Chatterbait, swim jig, weightless fluke, most top water (obv frog/horny toad would be better with braid)...as well as the other stuff he mentioned.

half ounce jigs and texas rigs

Super spooks, Swimbaits, spinnerbaits and wakebaits

most anything you want.  That's more or less my buzzbait rod in my current arsenal.  That would be good swim jig setup too.

I keep a list on my phone of every setup I own and what their duties are. Got this for this one now:

I keep mine in G-Drive - that way it's accessible to all my devices.

Lol I’m not tech savvy enough to even know what g-drive is.

I also have the list in case my stuff ever gets stolen.
