Dobyns Champion XP 7'3" Heavy X-Fast Casting Rod

Length: 7'3" | Line: 15lb - 30lb | Lure: 3/8oz. - 2oz. | Power: Heavy | Action: Extra Fast | Handle: Split Cork | MPN: DC 736C SH

I want to know if this rod is true 2oz rod, Because I have dobyns rod for example for 1oz and it is pushing it and really it is 3/4oz.

So I want to know if it will be the same on this rod, In that case ill go with 766 but I rather go shorter 7'3" than 7'6".

I narrow it down to this two rods already.

Thanks

I have the DX 746 and I would say 1.5-1.75 oz Honestly.

I traded my 745 for the 746 because I felt like they are a little overrated.

That is what I was thinking.

Love the rod though.

The XP 736 has a more active tip than the XP 766.  All Dobyns models provide a weigh range and the sweet spot is the middle of that range. If you plan on pitching-punching, the 766 will be better suited to 2 ounces. If you plan to cast a swimbait rod would be more desirable.  The 766 is also available in the Sierra line. Btw, Gary Dobyns flips/punches with an XP766 Flip.

I had a Sierra 766flip. Heavy rod

I have a Champion XP 735 and 736. Both are really nice rod. I ended up using my 735 for 6" magdrafts and swim jigs, and the 736 for S-Wavers 168, 1/2oz swim jigs, and 6.8" Keitechs with 1/2oz belly hook. Did you end up getting the 736?
