There are certain myths regarding PTSD which are believed by many people, adding to the stigma about it.

Fact vs Myth

May be an image of text that says 'POST-TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER MYTHS VS FACTS PTSD only affects military veterans PTSD can impact anyone who encounter a traumatic event PTSD can occur immediately after a traumatic event Symptoms of PTSD can take months or years to appear Everyone with PTSD experiences the same symptoms PTSD can present very differently. varying from person to person PTSD will just go away over time PTSD cases require treatments like therapy'

Thank you A-Jay for this post.  There are more first responders out there with PTSD than we will ever know. I lost a Fire Fighter friend to suicide.  It’s very real.  You never get over some of the things I’ve seen.  If you have a local police/fire chaplaincy, give them your support.  Those folks are special.
