Hi guys!! Next week I am going to be fishing these baits. The heaviest would be the PB rat ( 2.5 oz) I ha e  14lb, 16, and 18lb  Sniper floro. Im thinking use 50lb braid and a leader. Or just straight floro. I dont know?

I throw braid to leader and versions of those baits.  I'm usually 50lb pp slick 8 to 20lb sunline fc 100.  Sometimes I retie 20lb ultra green mono to help keep the rats up in the water column.  I haven't broken off much or ever, but I'm not in the *** or timber.  Imo, braid to leader shines most on the beast hook swimmers, I get bit so many times at the end of my longest casts that I really rely on the no stretch of braid mainline.

Any of those I would throw on 50lb braid to a 16 lb leader. If I was bomb casting would step it up to a 20lb leader but I rarely do that.

 

Also, I would have some copoly or mono on hand in case you don't like the sink rate - depending on water temps line weights/types can play havoc on getting the action right.

Probably 20# flouro or 40# braid depending on where
