assembling my dream rig... baitmonkey got me good!

Featured Replies

went and bought me a G.Loomis IMX MBR783C  which is 6ft 6 Med-Hvy fast action rod... then today I ordered a Chronarch CH50MG to put on it (should be here next Wed)... I have a couple of Curado Ds and I have a Loomis GL2 rod... but I tell you... it was definately daunting to plunk down that kind of cash for ONE rig... but I am one happy camper...

I did all the research on what I wanted for a general all purpose "dream rig" and this one fit the bill perfectly.   Sure I could have gone with the pure exotic stuff and spent1K on the set up (not that my better half would have allowed that) ... but for a normal guy like me this is EXACTLY what I think of when I think of a dream setup and then do a homer simpson... uhhhhhhhh FISHING RODS!  ummm well except maybe a CUSTOM IMX with a spiral wrap hahahaha... maybe in another year or so  ;) if I am a very good boy!  its going to take the wife a long time to get over this sticker shock!

SWEEEEEET.......enjoy it as I know you will!

I'm sure the better half will get over it as long as you don't insist on sleeping with the new gear  ;D ;D

Very nice..........You can count me in the G Loomis lovers group. I have 5 G Loomis rods and they are FANTASTIC! Be sure to post the pics of the fish you catch! Best of luck!  ;D

al, you made a good choice.  ...i've learned in life that if you buy the best, you only cry once.  you may cry over price, but you won't cry when you're fishing with an outfit that feels absolutely too light to be real; that is super smooth; that just makes you Very Happy that you have it.

God has blessed me to be able to buy some very nice equipment & i never forget to be Thankful & to Enjoy "Fishing with Fine Equipment."

Wonderful rig young man!!!  You will not regret the choice of top-of-the-line tackle.   And, your DW can do as mine will and sell it all off at the garage sale right after I'm in the ground ;D.  Remember, women live longer than we do ;).

Al,

You did well, I think you will be so happy with it that you'll probably start saving next week for the next combo!!

The exotic stuff, IMO, will not fish any better than that rig.  They classify stuff as exotic either because it's high dollar, imported or real new cutting edge... none of which garauntee it will fish any better.  I have been underwhelmed with one of my "exotic reels" to the point that I consider it a $400 mistake.  Don't let the label fool you.  I do however, LOVE the 50MG's I bought this year.

My all purpose dream rod for many years was the MBR784C IMX... I've since gone custom but will be building that blank again as a split gripped, spiral and a few bells & whistles.   ;)

SFC_AL   Enjoy the new rig.  I have it big brother and love it.

Very nice setup

SWEET SETUP!!!!!....   I just bought another dream set up the otherday.... a g loomis glx 783 and calcutta tc100 dc reel.   Then the week before I bought a glx 721 and a shimano stella 2500fa.... and then.....  This d**n bait monkey is KILLING me!!!!!!!

Once I get a new combination the wheels start to turn and I hear the MONKEY whispering. no SHOUTING "wouldn't a new glx rod be great when you are fishing ...insert fishing conditons here... and then he says you should team that rod up with a SWEET reel!!!!!!

OBTW  sweet also stands for $$$$$$$

holy camel crap!!! that is some serious money the monkey got you for!!! it would take me all year to pay that much off! Congrats!

I sold some extra golf stuff and I have been doing a little realestate developing in my spare time.... So it has been working out ok so far.....

Im waiting on my reel to run a very similar rig, I have the Loomis IMX PR844C and im waiting for the Chronarch B (CH101B) to throw on it. Good luck with your rig.

I fished that exact rig today-you will be very happy with it. I bought the 783 earlier this year for my TD-Z but borrowed a buddy's Chronarch to throw spinnerbaits today to see how I liked it.  I think I am going to grab a 50mg...the complete rig is super light.

Sounds like a great set up. Way to give your money to the bait monkey. I've been doing the same lately.

You will be very happy with your new equipment, not just now, but ten years from now. I'm sure you will add other gear to your treasure trove over the years, but you will always fish this rig.

Congratulations!

argh! what is wrong with FEDEX? I paid extra for delivery... and they have it in Appleton waiting to come here.. they didn't put it on the truck because "its not scheduled for delivery yet"   WTH is up with that???? don't they know how IMPORTANT that box is?  ;D  I can't wait to spool it up with some 12# hybrid and do some smallie fishing with it next week!
