Adrena glass

Featured Replies

Hey

Do you guys think the Mh fast action glass poison adrena rod can still perform tasks like Texas rig worm fishing sufficiently or worm fishing in general? I'm curious thanks

I own two Shimano Zodias casting rods.  They are similar to the Poison Adrena rods but a little cheaper.  I compared them both and chose the Zodias. In my opinion, the ADC610MHA 6'10" Zodias is the best worm fishing rod I have ever owned. Paired with a Shimano Chronarch MGL, I can't imagine anything better.  It's so sensitive, I swear I can feel the hit before it happens.  OK that's an exaggeration, but it's amazing as a worm rod.  My longer Zodias is a ZDC72MH-GA 7' 2".  I think it's too stiff for worm fishing.  I use it for frogs and Traps.

I wouldn't use a glass rod for any bottom contact applications. The sensitivity isn't gonna be there, and you'll want more tip and backbone for driving hooks home.

Don’t you wonder how we ever caught bass using worms and jigs with 5 1/2’ pistol grip glass rods, yet we did! How?....by feeling line movement using our finger tips in lieu of thinking the rod transmits strike detection. No rod ever made is more sensitive then your finger tips feeling line movements.

So do you still use glass rods for bottom contact baits? I've seen you make this claim before. Whether you wanna admit it or not, rods/rod material does affect sensitivity/feeling bites.

I make  that statement because it’s a fact.

Would I use a composite glass light weight rod for bottom contact yes. Do I use glass composite rods for bottom contact no and haven’t since boron-graphite rods became reliable in the 80’s. High modulus light weight rods does give the angler an advantage over composite glass, but it’s line that transmit strike detection.

To be fair, the OP was asking if you can, not if the setup was optimal.

Tom, remember when a Lews Speed Stick with a rubber pistol grip handle was the rod to have?   I'll bet you had a round Ambassador reel on it too.  I know I did.   It's a wonder we caught anything back then!

Feel the tick, count to 10, reel down and cross their eyes!
