I'm looking at getting one of these two reels and want to know what people think of them. I like the sol more but not sure what to do. I will be using it for fishing with jigs, t-rigs, and c-rigs. Hope someone can help me.

Exactly, I would go with the Fuego. I own two of them.

For the fishing you described the Fuego is clearly the way to go.

I own the fuego and the alpha(japanese version of the sol).  The alpha is my favorite reel.  It is lighter and smoother casting than the fuego.  I would not hesitate to use it on lighter jigs or  weightless t-rigs but for the c-rig, I would stay with the fuego.

I can 't say anything bad about either company, I have both brands and both are good once you jump from the cheap stuff.

Wrong, until the digital system appeared in the market with the Calcutta TE DC the most sophisticated and best control available in the market was the Magforce V, but you can 't have Mag V in the Fuego, Mag V is designed for V spool reels like the TDZ, TDX, Sol, Pixy, Alphas.

I tried to take your advice on the calais 200 APV for cranks but, I prefer a left handed reel and shimano does not make a 201 APV. I instead tried the new curado 201 DPV. I have only been out with it about three times. It seems comparable to the daiwas in smooth cranking and casting. I do prefer the easy access to the brake adjustments on the daiwa's though. It takes about 2 seconds to adjust them on the daiwas and about 30 seconds on the curado. That can seem like an eterninty. I'm sure with time I can get that down to 15 seconds on the curado.

Actually the best anti-backlash feature is a properly setup reel (no matter what braking system) and a highly educated thumb.....

Oooopps, my mistake!  

I misquoted the article I read on the TD backlash systems. I should have said - "When we finally started fishing with the Fuego we found the reel to be even more inspiring. Anti backlash cast controls are easy to set on the fly and the Fuego features Daiwa's most advanced system, Magforce-Z. The Fuego one-ups the SOL mechanically as the SOL still makes use of Magforce-V. MagForce-Z uses the same basic design as Magforce-V, but does so slightly more efficiently".

Shimano is the way to go.  You won't regret it.
