Kayak Seat Cushions

Featured Replies

Can we talk about these? I have been fishing out of a Hobie PA14 now for 5-6 years. I didn't know that these cushions existed until recently. I have seen that some are better than others. My biggest complaint about my Kayak is lower back pain after a good day of fishing and also that I would like the seat to have more cushion. What seat cushion are you using and would you recommend it?

I use a Kayak Kushion on my Outback and love it. They're pricy, but worth it in my opinion. I've had days where the wind was strong enough I didn't want to risk standing to stretch, and didn't have any back or butt pain with the kushion. Been in the same situation before I got it and it was miserable after a couple hours.

Which Kayak Cushion are you using?

I have a sit in yak with a Sting Ray seat and use this seat cushion I got on Amazon. This season will be it's 6th year and it's still going strong. I sit a little higher due to the cushion but it pads my skinny butt so long days on the water isn't a problem. The high back Sting Ray seat provides great support.

I have one of those 3” seats I bought for sciatica and tried in the canoe, it put me up so high the boat was tippy, went  with a 2” purple instead.

So far I really like it. I was pretty comfortable before but after 6-8hours I would be sore. This has really helped. Is it worth it? Maybe. It's just a cushion that stays in place.

One thing that has helped as well, is it made me re-examine how my seat was set up from the get go. I am now sitting in a better position which has changed were the pressure lies on my back and legs.
