either or?

Featured Replies

Hey all! All right by now you are thinking "when does this kid stop?" well, the deal on the energy didnt work out. I have now narrowed it down to 2 reels. I need your help. I am either going to buy the Quantum Accurist PT, or the Abu Garcia Revo SX. My question is, which one? I will mainly be using texas rigs.

Thanks for aaaaaaaallllllllll the help,

Craig

I said the same thing about line. You will not know what works best for you. Untill you try it. Maybe you will like it , maybe you will not.

You put a post on here:

one guy will say reel A is better.

Next will say reel B is better than A

another guy will say reel C better than everything.

alot of things will tell you what reel is best for you,

But what reel is best for one person might not be for the next.

Whats my fishing style?

how does it feel?

do i like the looks of it?

does it have the features I want?

does it have to many feature I don't need?

Those are just some question you have to ask yourself.

If I had to pick between the 2, my pick  would be the Quantum Accurist PT. That's because I don't like Abu Garcia.  Not saying there bad reels. I just don't like Garcia stuff. But why listen to me? I'm just some guy who likes to fish. I bet the next guy love Garcia hates Quantum and wants to smack me around for saying I don't like garcia. You know what, that is his pick, and I respect his pick.  don't be afaid to try a reel or rod because some "fishing guy" says so. Try it. that is the only way you will know what you like & dislike.

My honest pick? neither. But that's me, not you.

I had a Quantum Accurist PT, and I have fooled around quite a bit with the Revo.  I prefer the Revo simply because I think they are pretty equal in quality, but the Revo sits better on the rod and in my hand.  However, that part is just personal preference.  For the same amount of money as those two reels I would get the Shimano Citica.  Better quality reel, excellent reputation.

Strictly picking from those two you mentioned I would get the Revo.  I've yet to hear a bad thing said about them from anyone who has used them.

In the $80-$100 there are a lot of reels that are very good.  Both of these reels are good and will last you almost forever.

The only deciding factor I could see is palming comfort - which one feels the best on a rod for you.  To determine this, I suggest going to a Cabelas, Gander Mountain, Bass Pro, etc.. to evaluate the reels as they are mounted on those short reel seats.

Vermelho,

Welcome aboard!

(I'll stay out of this discussion. I really don't have an opinion.)

My dad used to say, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".

Well, I'll take the middle road here. I have owned reels by both companies, and I'll say this,

Quantum and ABU Garcia are two reels brands among others, that I intentionally overlook :-/
