What knots to use for glidebaits

Featured Replies

Hey, I was wondering what the best knots for glides are, including leader to line knots. I was fishing for bass with an $80 3oz glide on 20lb fluoro with a San Diego jam knot and a snook came and broke me off. Definitely shoulda prepared for that. Rip😭

Thanks !

SDJ knot is used for tuna fishing, i think thats about as good as it gets for glide baits and swimbaits.

I use it for everything tho.

Know nothing about snook or any other saltwater fish, do they have teeth? Possible the line couldve been nicked by it or rocks?

I definitely messed my sdj up then or the line got frayed. Thanks!

Double SDJ tested stronger than the single SDJ.

Pretty hard to mess up a sdj. That's one of the reasons it's my fav. I guess you could miss a loop and not realize it. I don't trust fluoro, personally. Nothing scientific, just bad experiences.

Is 20# strong enough for a 3oz bait? I don't throw stuff near that big myself, so I have no idea. With an $80 lure, I think I'd use straight braid 😄
