Yellow jackets in my boat

Featured Replies

I just did some real @TnRiver46 stuff this morning,  I'm sharing in case anybody else find themselves in the same situation.

I haven't taken my bass boat out all summer, mostly due to an illness in the family. In the meantime,  yellow jackets made a pretty good sized nest under my console.

This morning at 7 I put on a beekeeper suit (bought online for <$50), filled my shop vac with water and dish soap, and sucked them all up. I'll make one more pass this afternoon to see if I got them all, but I can finally get out again.

Anyone else deal with this? Did I miss anything?

Hahaha! You went above and beyond my skillset, I kill yellow jackets by pouring gas down in the hole. Not sure what I would do with a nest in the boat, maybe spray them repeatedly from a long way off

I've done that too.  Then I threw a pack of black cats down the hole with a long fuse, and plugged the hole with a rock.  They're DEAD

I can only imagine watching my neighbor dawn a moon suit and take on a hive or yellow jackets in the boat.  What a sight that must be. 😂

That's how I get 'em. I light the gas though and incinerate 'em. I know lighting it's not necessary, but it's more fun that way. 😁

Update: killed just over 200 yellow jackets, all sucked up with shop vac. Then I doused the area with a can of wasp spray to salt the earth so to speak.

And I can finally take my bass boat out tomorrow!
