Hi everybody, I'm looking for a good spinning reel for abot 50 to $100, I also need a good rod too put it on. Thanks for any help. I only bass fish.

Good - Shimano Sahara $59.99

Better- Shimano Symtre $79.99

Even Better Shimano Stradic $119-$159.99

BPS has some excellent combos as well, I believe you can get a Shahara/Bionic Blade combo on sale for $89.99. Also even though I personally like Shimano reels better, you can get a Plfueger President/ BPs Extreme combo for around $99, this is an excellent setup as well. I use a 400o sereis reel because I need more line capicity due to the fact as I use the same reels for inshore saltwater, however for bass fishing a 2500 series will be sufficent and much lighter.

You didn't say how much you wanted to spend for a rod so I'll defer at this time on the rods.

Shimano Compre is a nice mid-level rod.   Get a 6'6 M and you should be set.

About  $100 on the rod,I like a good rod.

According to what most everyone touts, St Croix Premier.  $90 for a 6'6 MF.

I would get a Falcon Original or St Croix Premier  (around $80 +/-) put the extra $20 towards the reel and go with a Shimano Stradic 2500.

That supreme is a nice looking reel. I got a Medalist for Christmas and I have enjoyed it a lot. It is a very smooth real.

The best "value" is a rod & reel combination, on sale, at one of the major retailers. I would suggest looking for a 2500 series reel and a 6 1/2' or 7 ' Medium Power/ Fast Action spinning rod. For around $150 you should be able to buy about $250 (retail) worth of equipment.

If you are not in a hurry, keep an eye on the "Flea Market" here at BassResource.com. GREAT deals pop up every now and then.

Thanks for posting that.  I was looking for a new spinning rod and reel as well and that is a real good deal I don't think I can pass up. One question, I'm not sure whether I should get a 6' M or 6' 6" M.  I will almost exclusively use it for Smallies and Largemouths.  I don't need MH because thats what my baitcasting equipment is for.  Probably I would be using it for light soft plastics, maybe some Rapala floating minnows and other small cranks (not too much though I'm not a big cranker), light jigs as well.  Hopefullly that is enough info, any suggestions soon would be appreciated because I don't want that deal to go away.

Just my two cents worth. But for me it is hands down,it has to be a  Pflueger President $ 60.00 you can't go wrong.It has 9 stainless ball bearings. I have 3 of them and I love them!   :) ;)
