Just curious

Featured Replies

I was just curious how many guys here have used all star rods.  I don't have one myself and just got  a loomis yesterday but I happend to see them but never stopped to look them over.  I have looked at them in the BPS catalog and they seem like a decent entry level rod price wise but just curious how they are performance wise.

I have both Team All Star in bait casting  and spinning and really like them. Can't be beat for around a $100.00.

I borrowed one of my dad's All-star rods and loved it i still have it it's a spinning rod 6'6" magnum spin. I have to give it back someday he said, maybe after this years fishing season or the next  ::o.

All Star makes a great rod at each of their respective price points!

I had one and it was excellent rod until it broke when I was setting the hook on a monster catfish.  I then had a bad experience with their customer service when I tried to get the rod repaired under their warranty.  If it had not been for the bad customer service, I would have rushed out to buy another one.  It was a fine rod for the money.

I have talked to several others who have owned an All-Star and they have no complaints about quality or customer service.  My experience seems to be an isolated one.

I just looked at All-Star rods today, they were the same price as the 2 St.Croix Premier's I bought.........seemed like they were well made, but to heavy for me, the St. Croix's won out based on there lighter weight, and they balanced better on the reel's I was buying. I also looked at some All-Star's in the $60 range.......I could not find any other rods in the store (Dicks Sporting goods) at that price range that felt as good, those seemed like very nice rods for the $$.

I have two of them, an original Classic and a TAS wacky worm special I use for Senkos' and plan on adding two more. I'm replacing a C-rig rod in the future along with a 6 1/2 foot rod I have in the boat that is an all purpose rod.  I'll probably start looking around for deals on used Platinum series rods.  I like the rods. Nice at the price point.

i've got an older wr1 that i really like.  i purchased one of thier new rods last summer fished with it maybe 3 times and then it broke in half.  so i doubt i'll buy another.  but i really do like the wr1 rod that i have though.

Allstar is owned by shakespeare now  and from what i can remeber it USED to be the only choice back  for mid price and low price  rods of course Gloomis was also around in the mid 80,s 90s  .I saw them in bassproshops catalogs and cabelas they were the go to rod back in the day many endorsements >I  have nothing against shakespeare i have many coastal ugly stiks i swear by but i think most all stars are made in china now...

I have a TAS flippin stick that the line guide eyes started to fall out of mysteriously after about 6-7 months. Between that and the Pfluger trpon(misspelled intentionally) that broke down after less than two months service, I am a die-hard anti-shak-yer-spear man. These products will not be found in my posession.
