Does excess heat on the bill when heatsetting paint cause the bill to weaken? I painted two ild rapalas a couple weeks ago and both bills broke on wrocks the first evening.

Heat set with a hair dryer not a heat gun and you should be fine.

There’s a chance any bill is going to break when it hits rocks. Rocks do more damage than heat.  Heat shouldn’t be responsible as it only takes about 10 seconds on the low setting to heat set the paint

My thinking on this. The amount of heat used to dry the paint. Is way less than it takes to effect the plastic.  The paint would be messed up before the plastic would be effected.
