Patrick Walters bait at Lake Murray

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what king of soft “fluke style” bait Patrick Walters was throwing at Lake Murray for his win last year? I know it wasn’t the Zoom Fluke cause he was hiding it and Zona said on a podcast that it wasn’t a Fluke but wouldn’t say what it was.

It might be a new one he's field testing for one of his sponsors and they don't want it getting out yet.

I don’t know for sure but I would bet that it is a bait similar to this https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/100_Swimbaits_Jerkbait_/descpage-SGJSS.html. There are several local bait makers with these and they have become extremely popular at the SC herring lakes.

Yeah, thought about that , but watching the video it was definitely soft. And he was throwing it with spinning gear. It may be something new, but usually they don’t try to hide it as much as he was. Unless it’s something with Rapala/Crush City since he’s sponsored by Zoom. It’s definitely a mystery.

Funny I was just listening to the same podcase. Low Budget Live.

I think we can rule out Crush City since the owner of the company was texting Zona about it.

You can likely figure it out if you analyze this video closely enough....

That said, he was going to win that derby regardless of what type of soft fluke style bait he was throwing imho.     He was on the juice, it was a timing/location deal more than a bait deal.
