New Plano Boxes - anyone tried them?

Featured Replies

I looks like plano decided to take some of the features from Edge and push them down to the standard box, and keep the price the same. Appears to be exclusive to BPS for a little bit.

Anyone tried them yet?

I actually looked at them in store yesterday. I was intrigued. I’ve been super pleased with my $9 waterproof boxes from academy lately, so…

That said, I saw the new evolution ballistix boxes and they look good. I like the look of the 37D

I think Scheels may have them on their up coming sale on 4-26.  If they do I’m going to grab some. I like the divider system.

I looked at than at them in store. I like them. Dividers are better and one hand latch is nice. I have a 3600 edge I’m still not sold on

Just my opinion but they took the worst aspect of the edge and put it on this box.  One piece latch doesn't always grab on both sides.

@webertime - don’t disagree, but the latch isn’t the same as the one on the edge series boxes…just some food for thought.

Edited 4/26 -

Was in BPS today. The latch differs in that it’s a “one position” latch. What I’m trying to explain is on the edge boxes, you have to make two moves to open/close it. In the new configuration, you just pull up on the latch and it opens. Not pull up and then out and then up like on the edge boxes.

I guess i dont understand, why the 3700 size is the same price as a 3700 edge. I can get 3700 edge for 19.99 at walmart. The dividers are vented also, like these new ones. Maybe its just the latch?

I'm guessing you are talking about the waterproof version. MSRP on that edge box is like $40. $30 now at amazon and walmart. But if you can get them at 20 stack em up, that's cheap.

I've been looking around and my best guess is one of the factories in china cut over to this style, because Kastking and a bunch of random brands are selling the same waterproof style, one latch, clear top.

I picked up a 3500 at Bps. I’m using it for terminal tackle. The latch closes tight. The dividers fit nice and snug. And alot more customizable. I’m pretty happy with it.

The ballistix boxes have piqued my interest as well. I’m especially interested in the hangr deep box.

The deep hangr box is neat. I don’t like deeps though, but I do like the concept. I thought I liked the concept of the terminal box as it’s “set”. I looked at it in person today and I hated it in person. The thing I’ll give them is the robust-ness of their plastic in the ballistix line. The dividers are like the Plano edge one, lock in place, don’t warp, etc.

Im waiting on the evolution big bait bag to go on sale because I’m too cheap to buy it at $45. That thing hold up to 12” baits.

I purchased three of the 3700 size.  At 7.19 each it was an easy call.  These are really nice boxes.

I liked the terminal tackle box from online pictures as well. What was it about the box in person that you didn’t like?

It just looks “chopped” up. I know there is no adjustability, but it just looked very random like.

Oh interesting. I didn’t realize it wasn’t adjustable at all.

Yep. Like I said, I like the idea, but I much prefer being able to make my tackle land where I want it, not where Evolution Outdoors does…
