New guy from Bradley Airport area here

Featured Replies

I recently moved to Windsor Locks and I know nothing about the area in regards to fishing. Generally a bass guy but want to try carp fishing. I usually fish from shore but do have the ability to get out in a kayak as small as it is for me. I was wondering if anyone knew of any places around my area, I usually fish East Twin when my buddy runs his boat up there but thats not always feasible. I live about a mile from the CT River by the canal but I don't know if thats even a good stretch of river to fish. Any info would be greatly appreciated, and if anyone in my area wants to get together one time to do some fishing that would be cool.

Can’t help with your area but welcome aboard..

Welcome to the forum. Have you walked the trail at the canal? I know the CT has bass and carp and the canal does look inviting, at least what I’ve seen of it. We tried hiking it last winter but the trail at the bridge is blocked off till mid April. It would be worth walking it and seeing if you can get at it to fish from shore. Supposedly you can bike it so you could do like the Cape Cod canal where they carry all their stuff on the bikes.

might be able to get to parts of the Farmington too. There is a boat launch near the airport, not that I’ve tried it. The Rainbow Reservoir launch, might use the yak to check it out fr shore fishing.
