Decisions About FC

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I need some advice on which FC line to choose. I am currently looking at Seaguar for my 7' Abu Garcia baitcaster. I fish from the banks, no boat, and I will be using this rod primarily for jigs and other lures like spinnerbaits and crankbaits. I have separate rods/reels for topwater and worms.

The lake I primarily fish is Lake Lanier and since I fish from the banks I usually will be casting open water and around a lot of structure near the banks.

Lines I am debating are InvisX, Tatsu, and AbrasX. I really would like to spend under $40 for line as there may be times I am not able to afford that line if needed or needing to respool. Thanks.

If you're mostly bank fishing around structure, I'd lean toward AbrazX — it’s built for abrasion resistance and holds up well around rocks and cover. InvisX is a bit more supple and casts nicely, but might not take the same beating. Tatsu is amazing, but yeah, the price tag's up there.

Given your budget and use case, AbrazX sounds like the best balance of durability and performance. I’d spool it up and see how it feels — you can always upgrade later if needed.

What lb test do you think I should spool up onto the reel?

I like a lot of Seaguar lines but not a fan of Abrazx so either Invizx or Tatsu. To me Invizx is more user-friendly but Tatsu more durable, longer lasting and has better knot strength.

i came up fishing from shore.  i ran a more budget friendly FC due to snags way the hell out.  i seem to lose a bit of line.  casting with the wind in my face, snags, me being dumb.

i ran 12lb Sunline sniper.

Seaguar InvisX is a good all around line. 15 lb is a good size.  If you fill your reel about 1/3 full maybe a little less with 12lb Big Game and then finish filling with InvisX.  You should be able to get three re-spools (including the initial fill) out of a 200 yard spool of line.

I made the switch to Tatsu last year and I love it! I buy it on Amazon since they are usually alittle cheaper.
