MLF Stage 6 - Potomac River

Featured Replies

It was refreshing to see the anglers fishing shallow cover, instead of looking at their FFS all day. I fish the creeks these guys were in, and rather than flipping docks and grass beds on the main stem, I think people watching Poche on day 3 and Defoe on day 4, putting up big bags will have other people looking to fish the shallow cover more often too.

It was very interesting.  I was traveling the whole time so I didn't see any of it.  I've looked at the results online and was surprised to see that everyone was fishing shallow.  It was the anti FFS tournament.   On day one even Drew Gill turned off his FFS.    I'll post the stats on FFS usage later but I've looked at them and fewer fish were caught during FFS periods than non FFS period.  I wasn't expecting that but I know nothing about the Potomac.  I'm an Ott DeFoe fan so I was very glad to see him win.  It's been a while for him.

They have full day replays on MLF, I missed all of day 2, when the conditions changed to a cold front so I’m watching that and how they adjusted.

I wasn't watching, but I saw the results. Glad for Ott!

Cold?

Yeah, it went from 96 to 72 degrees, with rain. I think the water temps changed by 10 degrees. Whenever I fished the pads shallow after a cold rain like that, I found the LMB to have lockjaw, but these guys still caught 'em.
