Jackall Super Break Blade (bladed jig)

Featured Replies

Wondering if anyone has used the Jackall Super Break Blade? I've been looking for something in between the small-bladed EVO mini and the standard bladed jig. Have heard a lot of negatives on the mini jack (blade too large for the smaller sized jig), but someone mentioned the Jackall version which has a blade size in between.

Hard to find and expensive, just wondering if anyone has used and if its worth trying?

I don't believe so, there is a dual weed guard on top though...

Yes. I believe it is to help prevent it from rolling when coming over/through wood.

Here's a video from a guy that I really like on youtube.

Based on all the videos I've watched of his, I'm very confident he is NOT sponsored.

Should be an honest review from him, hopefully it can help you:

Just found this YouTube from MikeyBallz although he doesn’t specifically cover that Jackall lure until half way through the 8 minute video.

A good video… a couple takeaways:

•The weedless “whiskers” on top and bottom might make this fairly snag-feee in wood. But I think the “Fine” (1/8, 1/4 oz) might rest on top of branches better and prevent from getting deeply buried. Just have to work it slower than a heavier brush jig.

•I would consider buying a few of these to experiment, but at $20-30 a piece, I’d definitely gulp every time I toss it into a thick lay down.

• I’d like to see how the heavier 1/2 oz size works and thumps in mid and deeper water. That was originally what I was looking for with something between the Mini Evo and standard bladed jig size.

•He has me convinced to try the 1/4 oz size as a replacement or at least complement to a traditional blade bait when the water gets super cold.

As the resident JDM fan boy, it stands to reason that I would have tried this by now. And I have. Lots. So much so, that it's the only bladed jig I now use. And I'm a constant, enthusiastic bladed jig user.

I also consider it to be the best on the market...and if not THE best, it's certainly in the running. Perhaps 1B to another brands 1A.

But I've been jealously, selfishly keeping this to myself because they are so hard for me to get. It's been my dirty little secret! I've ordered all of them from Japan.

But here's the thing: to this point in the year, I would have already lost several bladed jigs from "Brand Z" to snags. But I have yet to lose a single Super Break Blade (SBB). Not one. Nories makes a flat bottomed pin tail (think flat bottomed Spunk Shad). And with a flat bottom bait to prevent rollover AND with the bottom guards, you'd have to try very hard to snag it..or be very unlucky. So the difficulty in obtaining them has been offset by the difficulty in losing them. At least for me.

I have, I think, 4 different colors. So here's a few photos with a couple different trailers already rigged. Sorry, I don't currently have one rigged with the Nories Hulabug..but if someone REALLY wants to see it, I'll rig one up.

How would you say they compare to the bladed jig?

Tell me the sizes/weights you use and which techniques work best. Second, if you have a link where you buy them (PM if you prefer).  Thx!

I ordered a couple in the 1/8 ounce size earlier this year. Pricey little devils and I hate to admit, that video posted by bass sniper gave me the itch to buy them.

I have been on good spinbait bites and switched to only slow production.  Switch back to spinbaits, back to catching more.

I tried the larger well known blades jig variants this year and feel I have them down pretty good. I just think this version is too light and doesn’t provide enough action like the well known larger variants that the fish around me like to see.

I won’t give up hope yet, I’m going to get my value out of them! lol

1/8 seems really light, not sure I’d go lower than 1/4 or 3/8.

Not sure what you mean.

Agree but I have been on a BFS kick and sometimes us anglers outsmart ourselves. LOL.

It's an autocorrect filter that applies to a certain brand of popular bladed jigs. It can make discussions like this confusing, but it's not my playground.

Oh, in that case...I already mentioned how I think it stacks up against Brand Z

Idk why it changed what I wrote. I asked how it compares to these:

How do they differ? How does each fish etc?

I think both videos above do a good job pointing out the obvious and subtle differences. In short, the Jackall is much more snag-proof and finessy, especially around wood. Jack has exposed hook and is larger in profile for deeper water.

Thanks! I don’t fish much wood. Just lots of vegetation and fairly shallow water. Which do you think works better in vegetation?

There are weed guard "whiskers" on the top and bottom of the Jackall which should make it better in cover, the jack has an open/exposed hook.  I haven't fished the Jackall, but others have said if you fish it with common sense, it is one of the more weedless offerings out there. It is smaller in size and more finesse style, so if you want a larger, bigger thumping bladed jig go with jack.

It definitely comes through vegetation better than Brand Z

Really? Interesting. Might have to try these.

Bumping this back up…

What weight is everyone liking the most? I was thinking about going 1/4oz.

All my jackhammers are 1/2oz but it seems the lighter weight ones are preferred for this bait?.. maybe

Let me know

There's 2 different lines.

The "Fine" version up to 1/4oz and the "regular" version 3/8 th +

The "Fine" version has a slightly smaller profile and blade vs the regular.

I like the 1/4oz, personally.
