I'm off GoPro.

the GoPro batteries were always suspect.  my wife surprised me with a new action camera.  she got me the DJI OSMO 5!!  it is really neat.

the main thing is the "pre-record" feature.  I can have it on and in ready-mode.  I  get a bite, hopefully a topwater blowup...I hit RECORD button!!  it will capture any timeframe I ask of it up to 5 minutes before I pressed that button.  I say 30 seconds should capture the hook-set drama.

very very cool.  the other thing?  each battery gives me almost 4 hours of run time.  3 of my goPro batteries couldnt cover that duration.

I'm not starting a YouTube channel....but I can..  hahahah..

I'm seriously looking at those.  I'm interested to hear your thoughts after you've used them for a few trips.

yes Sir!!  I will report back.   for starters it couples and plays better with our phones from the get go.  and it only takes the fastest SD cards..my GoPRo one was rejected by the DJI.  I got an error message that said CARD IS TOO SLOW>>

@Glenn  BEST part.  the GoPro attachment accessories all work!!  no need to buy new mounts!!

See! Saves us money.

Well, my GoPro 4 just pooped out on me, not sure why.

I'm interested in this camera of yours.

I hate to assume, BUT:

I'm assuming it is constantly recording???

If after say the first 5 minutes you don't hit the record button, it just deletes that footage and starts a new clip?

Have you used it yet?

Review/thoughts on it?

@HawkeyeSmallie I'm still learning.   1st thing I learned was my slower SD card from my old camera was not compatible.  I just got the new V30 card and I am up and running.  (SD cards have gotten really affordable!!)

it isn't constantly recording per-say.  it is watching.  if I hit record I remember what it saw in the predetermined duration and it will add that to the data and start recording right away.   it is chewing up juice, so I think it is recording.  like a Tesla, where we honk our horns and it saves the info.

it is more intuitive than the GoPro.  I just start swiping and and figuring things out.  it is the new features that will hang me up.

What do you guys do with the video footage?  I don’t even take a picture of a fish but maybe once or twice a year.

I don’t use social media so I’m not posting pictures.  Is bass resource social media?  I still don’t really post pictures though.

One great aspect of fishing, is we get to do it any way we want (legally of course).

Some folks just fish, other folks take a few pictures, some even capture their trips on video.

I'm one of those.

Big fan of having my favorite adventures saved digitally.

Some I share, some I just keep for myself.

Got close to 550 fishing & boating videos, 350 or so I've shared publicly

on a super basic You Tube channel.

It's a fun part of fishing for me.

One of The Best aspects of running the GoPro's, is since I mostly fish solo,

being able to capture killer pictures from the video is so good, it really is.

IMO, anyone who wants to put in a decent effort, can do it.

So is the battery life less than advertised?

I havent run a battery down.  dunno.

I think it will get there.  just playing with it for 30 minutes, the battery does not seem to deplete.  I lose juice on the GoPro just reformatting a card.

next time I fish is next sat..:(.   I will wear a head mount the durations.  see how it does.

El Jefe (boss).

I spent the day bobbing around in the ocean.  I just hit record and let it ride.   I went about 3 hours 50 minutes.  I was shocked.  I actually forgot it was on my head recording until I heard it beep from low battery - and shut down.

3 batteries..no two batteries ( the bundle I bought came with 3 batteries) will outlast me on an average fishing trip.  no problem.

now I have to sort thru the footage to find me hooking and fighting a Ling Cod!!

Mmmm.  I think I’m at a lesser setting.  Never got to that window.

Well, I don't think it shoots HD, so yes, it's 4K.

I checked, and the 6 is coming out in the next month or so.  I'm in.  I'm getting 5 of them. :)

Yeah, any camera doing that is always recording but not writing to the card till it's told to.  Write speeds are one of the biggest chokepoints in digital capture.  There is no real difference in file corruption, if you lose power before the clip get it's wrappers you might have issues.

5?  and that is why you're EL JEFE!!

One of the guys filmed our last hunting trip with that DJI action camera.  It was NEXT LEVEL COOL!  Go Pro is falling behind.
