Have tariffs changed the way you're buying tackle now?

Featured Replies

I see everyone from the US complaining about the tariffs and brokerage fees on youtube. Are y'all mostly buying locally now? And it's not like buying locally is cheap, especially when it comes to reels and rods.

Nope. Not a bit I guess because I don't mail order lures. Like you mentioned, I buy locally.

The only issue I have had was in trying to buy some parts for a reel from UK. I was able to source them elsewhere and now no issues.

I bought an airplane ticket to Japan. :)

prices will still be up I suspect since I kinda learned how tariffs affect things in the process.

im waiting for my wife’s bday gift from London.  Not sure how that’s going to play out.

I've been forced into buying from Daiwa US instead of Daiwa China.  Daiwa Japan is still more attractive of a deal than Daiwa US for the moment.

Buying Daiwa China products from Aliexpress was like a cheat code.  They had many of the same reels as Daiwa US like the Tatulas ect that were all WAY cheaper than Daiwa US.  Tatula Elites for $170 since 2022, Tatula 80s,100s and 150s for $100.  Unique reels like the Fuego SV for less than the Fuego CT from Daiwa US.  All that has dried up now.  When I picked up my Tatula 150 I just bought it off Amazon for like $40 more than the prices I was accustomed to.

It's funny how i was shilling the Zillion being sold for $220 like six months ago, and now i don't even know how much it will cost.

As far as big ticket items I've already bought enough for the year 2025.

If I change my mind, I'll have to run the numbers and see if it's still worth buying direct from Japan.

Even with a tariff, you are most likely still saving money.

I don't really NEED anything right now.

WANTS can wait if needed.

Time will tell.

I buy whatever the Bait Monkey tells me to buy when he tells me to buy no matter the cost.
