i have been looking at a reel with a 7:1 ratio....mostly because i don't have one.

i have always been a shimano guy.  so of course the curado is being looked at.  but when i held this reel it seemed pretty big. (i have fairly small hands).  

but when i held the revo (stx) it palmed very well.  (i think using my 50 mg has spoiled me and gotten me used to smaller reels).

they both felt smooth, the curado was probably a tad smoother, but it is always hard to tell w/ demo reels.  there is no telling how many people have handled (and mishandled) these reels.

do any of you have real life comparisons of these two or recomendations?

I have fished a Curado 201 DHSV, it felt big and uncomfortable.  Bottom line, I did not care for it.  I have an old 201 SF that I do love.  With that said, when I looked for a high speed reel I took the Revo, Curado and Daiwa Zillion apart.  Just at a glance the Revo did not look that well made but it felt nice.  Having fished the Curado, I had already ruled it out but being a Shimano fan I thought it deserved another look.  I, of course, ended up with Zillion and I have nothing but high praise for this reel.  It casts well, the drag is pretty good, and it fits perfectly in the palm of my hand.  

same here im a shimano guy .... i first picked up a cu 201 ,,,, just too big and bulky.... i also baught a zillion ... i made the mistake of puttin the zillion on my frog rod .... then i have a new cu 201 with no rod .... so i returned it for another zillion ....   its a sweet reel ,,, maybe the best burner on the market .... ;D IMO of coarse  ;D

Tread new waters.. go with a Daiwa Zillion and be happy. I agree as well with it being the best burner on the market. I have it mounted on my Megabass Elseil. You can even use CRANKBAITs with this burner and not have to worry about fighting your equipment more then the fish. Buy it and just try it if your not happy you can always return it just make sure you know the return policy.

I compared these three reels and ended up purchasing the Revo STX. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but is sure seems to be very smooth.  The Zillion also felt smoother than the Curado, but without having any of these reels on the water it's hard to say for sure. I just liked the size and smoothness of the Revo the best of the three. I'm sure all of them are great reels.

You'll be very happy with the Revo. Abu Garcia finally got it right as far as the low profile reels goes. This one's a WINNER.

As stated above, the Curado is just too big a reel, I went with the Revo for it's size.  Another well priced high speed out there is the new Pflueger Summit.  Worth looking at as well, I have one on my toad rod.

Revo, hands down....The new curados are a rip off.

How do you figure they are a rip off, they have all metal componets instead of the previous generation which had some plastic. They are deffinatly better imo, the previous one though was legendary and an  industry staple id still take the new one. The only new reel shimano has that I baught and sold and would prefer the old one if I was more of a Shimano guy is the chronarch.. they failed miserably with the B compared to the MG.

I have the shimano 7:1 200dhsv and I like it has done well.  I have bought two zillions not the 7:1 versions but the 6:3 versions I think there both the same size but anyways I like my shimano its a great reel but after using the zilliion the curado feels like a big ocean reel now.   I will say this much about the curado I do like it alot better than the old model curados.  But I highly suggest giving the zillion a try

i have read on tackletour and i believe on here that the zillion didn't throw lighter baits very well.  is this true?

id agree with that .... the zillion seems to cast the heaver baits better but most reels do ... the first casts i took with the zillion i used a tube weight less ... she handeled that well .... she is a smaller feeling reel ... ill be useing one on my frog rod and one on a jig rod ..... so i will be fine with the zillion ....    

I have small hands and cant believe anybody would think the Curado B is big in any way.  The world sure seems to love bashing the new Curado's, even though most of them havent even had it on a rod let alone used it to fish any length of time.  I hope you guys are right on your estimations of a new design like the Revo.  I pray you dont have another Eon on your hands.  How can anybody compare a reel manufactured in Korea with one manufactured in Japan?

well i can say this .... the new cu is a nice reel ,, and a big step up from the old cu .... and the revo feels nice ,,, however there was somthing that turned me off when playin around with it .....  to be truthfull i thought the handel was small and even a little crude looking .... now i know i shouldent be so picky but if im droping cash on a reel it better meet my standerds .... ok so now size the cu 201 was a tank .. the zillion and revo sat on the rod nice and low and bloth had a small feel ..... and where just smaller .....  so i geuss i picked the zillion because it fit me better ....  

I recently sold my last curado (use to own 5 of them). Now I have 4 Revo STX reels. The new Revo's are much lower in profile than the Curado 200D. The Revo's also have high performance German bearings in them and they will easily out cast the Shimano. The Revo STX is one of the best casting reels I have ever fished. Plus, the Revo has a monster drag output. IMO, there isn't anything that tops the Revo STX.
