Keeping track of multiple rods and techniques

77 here with the same problem.  Did I even eat breakfast?  🥐  Quite a few more rods than that but very few are technique dedicated so not much of a problem remembering the few that are dedicated.

I'm 83 and know what day of the week it is when the neighbors put out their garbage.  I keep about 20 combos in the boat and constantly switch with about 20 more from home, but I know them all like a momma hen knows her chicks.

Same here but I usually don't know until the truck arrives.  :(

I'll be trying a new combo.  SLX 71 MGL (new-2-me) with 8# AN40 on a new Lew's Custom Pro 7'6" MF Ledge/Small Crankbait rod that was purchased a few years ago but never used.  Looking forward with anticipation to using it.

I carry over 30 rods in the Skeeter.  Some dupes, but at least 20 different ones.  I know what every one of them does.  Color code my stick jackets, but most of the time I just grab one.

To each his/her own, and it is starting to get cold, I guess.

I keep a listing in Excel for insurance purposes.  Not in the boat.

Let’s see……….Excel,  they were made by Lamiglas and there were eleven models in the lineup.  I had seven models.

I have an excel spreadsheet that I made to keep track of 30+ rod and reel combos I have. Plus I made one for my line inventory. Should make one for the the plastics and lures I have. Below are the headings I use

ROD REELTYPE LINETYPE #TEST TECHNIQUE LUREWEIGHT ACTION POWER LINE NOTES

haha, I have a line inventory as well :).  Its very helpful when its time to re-order.

To do that, I would spend more time with my computer than my Vexus.

Glad I'm not the only crazy one!

I find filling the cell with a certain. color helps me keep track of which leaders have been re-tied.

Here is my version:Screenshot 2026-05-30 at 7.56.01 AM.png

I started out with grand ideas of “this is my worm set up, this is my jig set up, etc”. But after one trip I find a spinnerbait tied on my worm rig, a Texas rig tied on my jig setup, etc. in other words my grand plans all fall apart :)

Yes, I have a spreadsheet with pages for rods, reels, combos and soft plastics. The page I use the most is the soft plastics page as it keeps the bait monkey in check. "There's a sale!" the bait monkey says.

"Check the spreadsheet" the rational mind replies.

"Damnit" the bait monkey exclaims before admitting defeat and sulking off.
