I'm looking for a G Loomis rod to be used as an all-purpose spinnerbait rod. I've narrowed my choices to either the SBR813C, MBR843C, or MBR844C. I have a SBR812C and find it to not be powerful enough. I primarily use 3/8 and 1/2 spinnerbaits with 17 lb line and fish lakes that have an abudance of vegetation - hydrilla and some stringy aquatic grass that grows to ~13 ft - from spring through fall, with weed mats forming in the summer. My priority for the rod is the cover I'm fishing with lure rating secondary. What are the differences between these three rods? Any feedback appreciated. Thanks.  

I have the MBR844C which is my jig rod and striper rod. It is powerful and fast which may be exactly what YOU are looking for. However, I think the MBR843 might be a better "all-purpose" spinnerbait rod. Lighter lures cast much better on a "3" rated blank. I think you would find it suitable for a number of other applications, too.

I have the MBR843 and agree with RW. I would think the 843 would be powerful enough for most of your cover situations

To me that says 4 power.  But I base this kind of stuff on geography, style and size of fish caught.  I use the 844 for all kinds of stuff.   The newer ones have a delicate enough tip for even light lures.  I wouldn't hesitate to use it for 1/4 oz stuff and with a decent reel, you can go lighter.  The 843 seems light for throwing 1/2 oz baits on 17# line... I know it's rated (barely) for it but the 844 fishes that set up comfortably.

edit to add: I don't know how the SBR compare to MBR series.... so I can't help there.

I'd go for the MBR843C.

I use the MBR843 for my spinnerbait rod and I like it a lot, however, I don't fish as much grass and use 12 lb Yo-Zuri or Gamma.  I like the "3" series since is loads up well will 3/8 or 1/2 oz spinnerbaits....IMO the "4" might be a little stiff unless you are throwing heavier baits....
