Where I'm from we call that a floating worm rig and yes it is one of my favorite ways to catch post spawn bass. Matter of fact I literally just got through tying one on for a tournament I have in two days. I'll add another dimension. I only use two colors for a floating worm. Merthiolate if the water is kinda dirty and bubble gum if it is more on the clear side. I have used yellow before but it is the least producing color of the three for me.

Just the other day I watched a video talking about this although it was whacky rigged. I went out an bought 2 bags of zoom trick worms, 1 in bubblegum and the other in methiolate...have teied it a little bit in bubblegum and not a bite so far...but sounds like it does work so maybe just keep trying....

I don't target bedding bass, but if I'm getting bit in a specific area then I will continue to fish the area until the bite stops. This year I've been fishing with swimjigs on the flats in the new vegetation, and Texas rigs in the deeper water. If there is wind, then I'll try a spinnerbait, but that bite has been hit or miss.
