Have you noticed a lot of these UV fishing gloves have this thick material for “grip” that severely compromises dexterity?

Featured Replies

Whenever i need new fishing gloves i stop by menards or any hardware store and go to the glove section and try on a few pairs of thin rubbery / silicone palmed gloves, the last pair my wife bought she found in the gardening area.

When i get to the river like just this past week i put them on and cut the tips off of just 3 fingers and when the weather warms up in a few weeks i will cut the tips off the other fingers. SPECIAL NOTE: remove finger before cutting

I cover up as much as possible but the face still needs sunscreen no matter what. Sun reflection off the water will burn you just as quick as direct exposure.

That’s another product. In Florida we all wear buffs. Covers ears, neck, nose and face. Hat covers forehead and sunglasses meet buff on cheeks. Added advantage is protection from massive swarms of grass gnats.

I’m looking for something very thin and lightweight to keep the sun off my hands, as applying sunscreen to the back of your hands is very difficult.

In my search, I have found very few of them that don’t have some sort of faux leather/suede or silicone grip on the palm/fingers that makes the gloves extremely cumbersome to fish and tie knots in.

Why do they do this? It’s very frustrating, I have now tried two or three different pairs from Amazon that I’ve had to return, I just want ultrathin and full dexterity, like I should barely be able to feel that they’re there. I know they make them for fly fishing, I’m just trying to find a good one.

I'm on my third pair of outdoor research. I don't recall anything on the palm. Very light, cool in texas summers.

Haven't found one yet that doesn't fog my glasses!! LOL 😆

I use Simms gloves made for fly fishermen. Lightweight, fast drying and one palms so I don’t lose any sensitivity. A couple friends switched after seeing them.
