Foggy lenses

Featured Replies

Anyone have a tip/trick or two to keep my sunglasses from fogging up so bad? I always wear a wide brimmed hat and my Costas when fishing. If there isn’t any wind my glasses fog up terribly. I feel like I spend half of my fishing time wiping my glasses off. This is usually only an issue when the weather warms up.

A small amount of dish soap applied to the lenses, wiped dry then buffed is supposed to work.

I just jack up the RPMs on the boat to my next spot to help with the fogginess haha

Sorry, I have no advice. But to be fair, I actually do what I posted above

Definitely can’t get the kayak moving fast enough to make my own wind, and apparently I’m too high strung for sunglasses (this had me laughing bc I’m about as excitable as Eeyore)…guess I’ll have to try some dish soap.

That’s weird. I almost never have an issue with my costas and always have my hood up. Idk what model you wear but I used the tuna alleys and permit and they both have vent holes that seem to actually work well.

I go with metal frames with the two little pieces of plastic that rest on your nose. You get light leakage through the sides but it mostly solves the fogging problem.

The soap trick always worked for swimming goggles but never tried it on my fishing glasses.

I do have minor fogging issues but not enough to warrant anything extravagant other than moving the glasses further down the bridge of nose for air circulation.

Looking directly into the sun while fishing should help 😁

when I was having fogging issues some years ago a friend of mine recommended "paintball mask anti-fog spray", I think the company I used was empire. It worked fine, not perfect but an improvement.

Thanks for all of the suggestions folks. I’ll have to give that paintball mask spray a shot.

@STPC dp you wear a neck gaiter that covers your nose? I wear Oakley split shots and they will fog 100% of the time that way.

I did just buy costa Rincon 2, and they have the vented nose piece that @Swimbaitstud mentioned. I’m curious to see if those work.

I have the half moon Costas and they do not have any of the vents on the frame or nose piece. I have a smaller head and they are about the only pair of costas that I can get in prescription that fit me well. I don’t wear a gator though I probably should. It has been really extra muggy here in SE NC given that’s we are not even into summer yet. The humidity makes the fogging even worse.

May have to look into some anti-fogging spray that I have found online. If it works I’ll report back.

Look at scuba anti fog gear usually pretty cheap

That’s a great idea BassCats. Hadn’t thought of that

Cat Crap. Bright red packaging. Made for ski and scuba goggles. Also, make sure your glasses are the same temperature as your face. If the frames and lenses are cold, when you put them on you'll fog up.

Finally, it's gross, but you can get the same effect as dish soap with your spit. Spit on the inside of the lens and buff dry.

I’ve done the spit thing for goggles before. Probably don’t bother me as I was already soaking wet at that point. Don’t know that I would try that on my glasses. I’ll look into the cat crap (don’t know if the name is awesome or terrible, guess I’ll wait and see if it works or not)
