Moving back to Maryland next month. Ideas for places to fish with my inflatable

I have an inflatable with a trolling motor. It’s not a yak, but fishes like one. We are moving back to Maryland (Jarrettsville in Harford County) after 7 years in Texas. I know the major reservoirs are out of the picture. I’m looking for suggestions for places that aren’t too far that might be good places to fish. I know I can go to Piney Run or Wye Mills, but would like closer options. If anyone yak fishes in Harford/Baltimore/Cecil Counties has any suggestions, I’m all ears.

My boat. It’s a 3-chamber inflatable.

Susquehanna River near Port Deposit. It's below the Conowingo Dam and above the Flats in Havre de Grace. There's a small boat ramp in Lapidum (on your side of the river). I've never used the ramp but I think it's probably good for your boat.

I launch out of lapidum regularly. you would really have to watch wind there. It gets out of hand fast. You’d also need to watch tides, how much water they are releasing as well. I’d also recommend don’t going if your inflatable isn’t puncture proof. That is a pay ramp as well.

Other than that I can’t help you with anything in MD lol.

I know you say no reservoirs, but pretty boy has a bunch of big fingers that would each fish like a small lake. If you watch the wind direction and pick your days I’m sure you’d be just fine there.

I think you'd do well in the shallow tidal rivers up there, like Bush River, Otter Creek, Gunpowder. If you like to catch snakeheads, they're all up in there along the tall marsh grass. Last summer, I heard that spot were prevalent and people were live-lining them for citation LMB.

@casts_by_fly I say no reservoirs, as I don’t think inflatables are permitted in Loch Raven, Liberty or Prettyboy. If they were, they’d be tops on my list. I have the most (not recent lol) experience at Loch Raven, but I love Prettyboy. I’ll check the regs again. Just did. No inflatables. And yaks have a 12’ minimum.

As far as between the dam and the Flats, I thought about that. But wind is my enemy lol. Might be too big of water, but I’ll check it out.

@Junger I also thought about those areas. I’d have to see if launch points are accessible.

@BrianMDTX another over 10mph usually becomes a small craft advisory down there. Going south from the lapidum launch you’ll be in 30-70fow till you get to the flats for the most part. If you go towards the dam it will be shallow and rocky.

You know, this may be an excuse to get a boat lol. Have to see what the finances look like.

@BrianMDTX I like your thinking. I go play in the rocks but, that’s the kind of boat I have. Something with a little bit of a V is king down there

We maybe able to meet up down there sometime.

Disclaimer: we will hit rocks and my dog with be with.

@Susky River Rat That sounds good to me. Hopefully the move goes easy and we get settled I quick.

I was up in that area today. All I got was stripers which is cool. Not when I’m in a tournament though 😂

Looks to be a done deal. Should be back around the 4th of July!
