I got this rod basically for free on a trade. Its a 7' MH/F. It feels really nice and I've seen it labeled as a do everything rod. I've never owned a Loomis rod, and can tell it has some unique tip and backbone to it when casting. Id like to know what you guy that have experience with this rod have utilized it for? I was thinking it feels like a spinnerbait/buzzbait rod two lures I don't use. I fished jigs with it yesterday and like my extra fast rod better. I threw a swim bait on it and it was ok, but a medium power i like better for that. Basically I think its a great rod, but i've already got 9-10 rods in my line up I like and don't quite know where to fit this one in.

It's exactly what you think it is: my favorite spinnerbait rod.

I have the NRX+ version but it's one of my favorite rods. I use it for:

*Yes, spinnerbaits

*And swim jigs

*Urchin baits

*Dark Sleepers

*Poop baits

*Small swimbaits

*Underspins

*3/8-1/2 oz swingheads

I have 2 of those. I use them mostly for jigs under 1/2 oz and spinnerbaits along with 3-4” swim baits.

The NRX 843 I have feels slightly softer in the tip and more powerful in the butt than my Legend Elite MF. The MBR action lets me use this rod like a Medium power for a variety of things but in a slightly heavier package.

I fish from a kayak more than any other way and that means versatility is king. The 843 can throw the normal things you’d expect Loomis to throw like jigs and worms but it’s much more than that.

When fishing tournaments my 843 fishes topwater poppers and walking baits, 1/2oz squarebills, full size flukes like the OSP do live stick and do live stick fat, spinner baits, swim jigs, and the list goes on. The action is forgiving enough to throw trebles but the power in the blank lets me use single hooks techniques.

I can see where if you have 10 MHF rods on the deck you don’t need another. But if you’re bringing two of them I’d choose 843 and 844 every single time.

Congrats @jitterbug127 on acquiring a great GLoomis rod that as mentioned above extremely versatile. My 843c has been dedicated to throwing senkos for years now. Good fishing!

843 is one of those rods that can be used for a lot of different things and you will hear a lot of personal preferences on it. What works for some may not work for you, what works for you may not work for the others.

Glad I started this thread. It gives me a few more ideas for lures to throw on this Rod. I'm a river smallmouth guy, so I generally keep my tackle thin to a moderate amount. I like rods that can do a couple things well. This one sounds like it can do a bunch! I like extra fast rods for smallies normally. It will be nice to have something with a little more tip on it.

When I wade fish for smallies I’m almost always taking the Elite MF or the 843. They fish the weights I need and are so versatile I’m not stuck only throwing one thing.

If you’ve not had a chance to try some DEPS 1/4oz headlock jigs in the river give them a look. I don’t know why but here in TN they are absolutely killer.

Excellent rod, I have the slightly longer imx pro MBR 903. I use it for a lot of things like 1/2 oz spinner baits, #5 Mepps Black Fury spinners and 1/2 oz rapala poppers.

even caught a muskie from shore on mine. I use a curado 200i with 12 pound sufix siege mono.

I am very impressed with it so far. I have never owned a rod just like this. I plan to try out a bunch of different stuff and see what I like on it the best.
